COVERAGE: The Hoosier Dance Calendar lists swing/rockabilly, ballroom, and Latin dances in Central and Southeastern Indiana within a radius of approximately 100 miles (2-hour drive) from Bloomington Indiana, including Terre Haute, Lafayette, Kokomo, Richmond, and Louisville. Some ballroom dances outside this range are listed (Ft. Wayne and Cincinnati); some Latin dances within this range are not listed (Louisville).
CONTENTS: The dance calendar is presented in three parts: (1) Part 1: Regular Recurring Events: dancing opportunities open to the general public that are available on the same day of the week one or more times each month; (2) Part 2: Other Scheduled Events: a chronology by date of other dancing opportunities; and (3) Part 3: Dance Studios – Open Dancing: dancing opportunities open to the general public at private dance studios that are not included in Part 1.
USAGE: The dance calendar is intended for the personal use of those individuals interested in partner dancing in Central and Southeastern Indiana (including Louisville). It may be reproduced for or transmitted to others who may be interested in the information, as long as there is no cost to the recipients and proper attribution is provided: “The Hoosier Dance Calendar is a service provided by James A. LISTINGS: To qualify for listing in the dance calendar, an event must (1) be a sponsored, danceable event at a venue within the 100-mile range, (2) have swing, rockabilly, ballroom, or Latin dance music provided by a band or DJ, (3) be open to the public with or without a charge for admission (membership in an organization cannot be required), and (4) have a reasonable amount of acceptable floor space available for dancing. If you wish to have an event listed, please provide the following information, as relevant or known, to Jim Palmer at japalmer@indiana.edu: (1) event date, (2) event title or theme, if any, (3) name of band and/or DJ, (4) type of music/dancing, (5) name and address of venue, (6) start/stop times for music, (7) admission/cover charge, if any, (8) age restrictions, if any, (9) nature, time, and cost of any dance lessons provided, and (10) contact information for the event sponsor and venue (e.g., phone no., e-mail address, website address).
